Overview
The Ethernet Access Service Terminal 1100 is a 19-inch wide, 10U high rack mount chassis. It hosts Network Interface, Switch (L2/L3 aggregation) and PON Interface cards that deliver 32 dedicated wavelengths of 100-Mbps bandwidth per end-user.
Installed at the central office, the EAST 1100 supports up to 256 wavelengths on 8 separate PON interfaces and up to 1024 per 7' frame. The platform is divided into four functional areas; the Network Interfaces (NI) that interface with the service network, the L2/L3 Switch, the Main Control, and the PON Interface (PI) that interfaces with the end-user Ethernet Access Business Unit (EABU) or Ethernet Access Residential Unit (EARU).
